Turning off or disabling chat in gmail is as easy as clicking the link to turn off the chat. 
But, to permanently disable it, you must add some entries in your hosts file to block the ips leading to the gmail chat. Like shown below:
127.0.0.1 chatenabled.mail.google.com
127.0.0.1 talkgadget.google.com
127.0.0.1 hostedtalkgadget.google.com
127.0.0.1 talk.google.com
127.0.0.1 talkx.l.google.com
Then restart your computer and you are good to go.

Something is wrong on my pc. No wonder, it keeps giving me the message ‘RCINT failure. String table ID not found. “42″ at line 462.’ I got those messages whenever i re-start my computer. It turns out that some of my windows DLL files are corrupted. Maybe i’m infected. Fair enough i tried this solution.
First, I got the CD installer for my windows version, for mine is Windows XP PRO sp2. Insert the CD installer on the drive.
Secondly, i run ‘SFC /scannow’. It will keep asking for the CD installer. Kinda weird, can’t it just remember that the CD is already inside. Anyway, just click ‘retry’ and be patient. It will be worth your while. When everything is done. Restart your computer and the persistent message will be gone.

There are some email attachment when executed will immediately shows that it is scanning your system. It will pose as a sleek professional AV software. But in reality, it is not. If you see something like below, immediately close it and run for your life. No, just kiddin’. Close the application and try to scan your computer with a legitimate AV software.
